Pavel Savchenko, the president of the National SB20 association: “Open Russian Championship will be intriguing!”
– This year was very active for us: we have achieved a lot. First of all, our class was finally included in the registry of the Ministry of Sport. Now all the achievements in our class will be registered officially, sportsmen will receive categories and will be able to improve their qualification. Unfortunately, we failed to hold our first position at the Nations cup. We have finished lagging French for 9 points. Moreover, it turned out like that only at the final day. One of our crews has got the black flag. At the awarding ceremony the president of the International SB20 association noted, that Russia was leading for a long time and only at the last day French team has taken the lead. So, we are going to continue being on first places and will try to return the Trophy.
On the following SB20 Russian Open we expect 25-30 boats – the best teams of our country. The rivalry would be interesting. I already see here the riders, who will contest in this class for the first time, but in the other regattas they have proven themselves as serious contenders, so everything can turn out in any way. We have no obvious leaders, but some strong teams pretending for the winning. I’m sure, it would be interesting!
