Half fleet has DNF

11.09.2014

For now the fifth race of the SB20 World Championship remains the last one: the wind has faded away in the end of it. As a result, the most part of the fleet – 26 boats – has missed the monitoring time. The same sad weather situation remains now: there is a complete calm on the water. Racers are sent to the shore, judges remain on the water monitoring the situation. The decision about advisability of good weather waiting will be taken at 16:00. Meanwhile, Russian yachtsmen Sergey Musihin (RUS 3328) and Alexey Murashkin (RUS 3708) commented results of the previous race.

Alexey Murashkin:

– It was a hard race with the wind frequently changing. Our Ural guys (team of Evgeny Neugodnikov – noted by press office). They’re great! We finished not badly, though French teams of Eugenie Gosselin and Salomon Mattieu are trying to file objections to us. But we think, they don’t have any causes. It seems that today there will be no races more – even one that finished was questionable. Half fleet has missed the monitoring time, but the regatta is valid – five races were handled! Weather forecast promises wind for tomorrow, and if the limit time of the last start will be postponed, it will be possible to handle three more races.

Sergey Musihin:

– It is too early to summarize – maybe, wind will come again. Today we had a very good start, we were the first on the upper sign. It was hard in the end of the race: the wind faded out, we could hardly reach to the finish. Wind was too slow, but all in all, the weather is good. And we have to enjoy what we have! Now our main rival is the Spanish team of Hugo Rosha. We hope that tomorrow there will be more races. The strongest should win!
