Last Tuesday gave participants and guests really long race program. Yachtsmen shown not only interesting fight on the distance, but also a good athletic endurance, so rave committee and organizers are pleased with yesterday races. Current weather forecast promises 6 kn wind with south direction (with little deviation to west and east). Anyway, judges plan to set a distance and afterwards follow terms changing. Racers are on the water now.

At a morning skippers meeting the Principal Race Officer Hans Piter Hylander thanked racers for, mostly, good sport behavior they demonstrated yesterday. Nevertheless, the International Jury Chairman Chris Watts returned to the theme of executing Rules and the Race Instruction:
– We like yesterday’s seminar, looking forward to handle another one, but a little bit later, when the schedule lets us. Some words about yesterday – firstly about the rule 42 RRS: three boats were punished for the same fouls, it was “rocking” at the start with the goal to earn the advantage over a boat, going beside. If a team does synchronous movements – it is seen very clearly, that’s why they are to be ready for judges’ reaction and penalty. Another significant moment: point 22 of the Racing Instruction tells, that all helping boat must keep 100 m distance to all the boat, until the last one finishes.
Also, judges remembered to sailors that it is permitted to have only one sail set aboard during a race: mainsail, genoa, and two gennakers.

Vladimir Komel:
– Firstly, I would like to pay attention on necessity to follow the rules strictly, because we are participants of the World Championship, top competitions. Yes, here are sportsmen of different level – from World Champions and Olympic prize-holders to amateur sportsmen, but rules are equal for everyone. For now someone was warned, someone – penalized. All races are to be honest – that causes understanding between the Race Committee and racers.
